level three: novice

the kuma way novice course is designed for dogs who have already mastered all of the core skills listed in the beginner course. the goal for this course is for your dog to be able to perform all of the skills listed below with consistency and ease. your dog must be able to perform all of the core skills for the final exam in order to pass and be ready for the next level of obedience. the supplementary skills are recommended for well-rounded training, but are not required to pass the course. every skill marked 'OL' will be performed off leash during the exam. right now i'm offering an introductory price of $200 for the full course, which includes 10 private, one-hour training sessions, once per week for 10 weeks. 

core skills

• OL - 3 minute down stay from a distance of 12 feet

• OL - 1 minute sit stay from a distance of 12 feet 

• OL - recall (come) from a distance of 20 feet 

• OL - stand stay for 30 seconds from a distance of 6 feet

• OL - stand for exam from a distance of 6 feet

• heel on a loose leash with no resistance or pulling

• heel on a loose leash for a figure 8

supplementary skills

• look - get your dog to look at you (10 seconds no treat) 

• off - get off of furniture or people 

• up - jump onto a platform, such as into a car

• wait - a shorter stay command

• leave it - ignore or disengage from distractions

• finish - return to heel position
